The five words for "just/only" in Thai are:
- เแค่ /kâe/
- เอง /eeng/
- แต่ /dtàe/
- เพียง /piang/
- เท่านั้น /tâo-nán/
The example sentences
- "I only want one piece," = "ฉันต้องการแค่ชิ้นเดียว" (Chăn dtông-gaan kâe chín-diao)
- "I can eat only vegetarian food," = "ฉันกินแต่อาหารเจ" (Chăn gin dtàe aa-hăan jay).
- "I can only speak a little Thai," = "ฉันพูดภาษาไทยเพียงเล็กน้อย" (Chăn pûud phaa-săa tai piang lêk nói).
